Creativity vs Discipline?

Creativity is something that is in your blood as a designer.
You either got it or you haven't. Of course you can learn how
to be more creative, but natural creativity is something that
money cannot buy.
Discipline within design is something that you do not get
taught at university or art college. It is something that you
learn as you undertaken different types of creative projects
and also something you learn from more experienced colleagues.
What good is a disciplined designer without creative ideas to
work with. Equally, what good is a highly creative designer
without the knowledge and discipline of how to use his or
her ideas properly.
However, too much discipline for a creative designer can end up
hampering and restricting creativity. Whereas a disciplined
designer can never get enough creativity.
Both are equally important as each other and both need to be
developed hand in hand. Creating ideas, picking the strongest
most relevant, developing and implementing across different
media is the culmination of discipline and creativity.
Develop them well and you will be are highly skilled team player
who can see projects through from conception to completion with
ease and with little external input. Develop them badly and you are
always going to help in either creating ideas or filtering them down
into usable concepts.
